Heartland

  • Inspired by Idaho’s Agrarian culture, Heartland leans into the traditional architectural vernacular of surrounding farmlands and reimagines those design principles to accommodate modern living. Simple forms, proportions, and material language translate familiar rural and agricultural context into a refined residential abode.

The design was guided by a desire for the home to feel as though it had always belonged on the site, a contemporary interpretation of an agricultural building evolved into a residence. Familiar materials are reimagined through a modern lens, with corrugated steel transformed into a perforated metal screen that extends beyond its utilitarian origins.

The interiors draw inspiration from the Teton River, seasonal landscapes, and surrounding meadow vegetation. The resulting interiors embrace a subtle mid-century modern aesthetic, incorporating the homeowners’ collection of mid-century furnishings including handcrafted pieces created by the client’s father, to create a home that feels personal, warm, and connected to its history.
